So... the nursery. Again I asked myself 'What is the primary use for this space?' Well, a nursery is pretty simple:

•    Space for cot

•    Somewhere to change baby

•    Somewhere to put clothes

•    Comfy seat for feeding

•    Storage for toys

Before I begin, we haven't overly 'decorated' this room as we aren't sure on final configuration of the bedrooms in the house and may mix it up in a year or two. And because apparently no nice gender-neutral wallpaper exists in grey. #facepalm

We were lucky enough to be given a Mamas and Papas cot & changing table from my brother (on that note, beg borrow & steal from everyone you know! From the *limited* knowledge I have about babies I have found that many things are very useful but only for a short space of time so borrowing instead of buying is ideal). If we weren't given these two items we wouldn't have bought a changing table as a mat on top of a chest of drawers does the same job. So cot & somewhere to change baba - tick!

Clothes... Are you even human if you don't own at least one piece of the Ikea 'Hemnes' range? I'm pretty certain every home in N.Ireland features this attractive looking chest of drawers and there is a reason why... it's simply perfect in any home - modern or traditional. The drawers are lined with lovely grey & white stripes which I thought was a nice touch. We bought the handy drawer inserts to aid my OCD and keep all of John's bibs, socks, muslins & vests in a neat and tidy format.

We decided not to put a wardrobe in the nursery for 3 reasons:

1   The large Hemnes chest of drawers holds LOADS!

2   We aren't sure what room will eventually be our guest room with nice big built ins.

3   I hate wardrobes.

We did, however, get this nifty ladder for behind the door to hang a few larger items that are too big for drawers. It's a great space saver and looks neat & quirky. I used some chalk paint on wooden children's hangers to add a bit of character & colour.

A comfy chair - I know, I know, those padded, glider nursing chairs are what you are supposed to get to feed your baby but I'm so sorry, I think they are hideous (hands over eyes monkey emoji).

The nursing chair is probably my favourite thing in this room. Ikea (my old friend) has the loveliest armchair at a fab price that is perfect for any nursery... but it is stationary (NB: not 'stationery' remember "E for Envelope" the biggest mistake in the wedding industry!) So I researched and found a lovely joiner in Canada (yes, Canada) who makes brilliant rockers that fit directly on to this particular armchair. You can find them here. I choose the slowest (and therefore, cheapest) shipping method as you have 9 months to plan - so there's no big rush!

Matched with some White Company cushions and a fabulous footstool from Zuri House (that can be doubled up as a little seat for John when he's a little older), you can see why this is my favourite aspect of the room.
